so I got the flu Thursday night and was in bed all day Friday with it. Let’s just say i was barely mobile all weekend let alone ready to move around at a fast crazy pace for exercising!

anyways, i’m only feeling a bit yucky today, so i’m going to take it slow and do my short fitness video. I don’t have to worry about calories so much since i’m still not eating alot.

Best part is I had a flu shot again this year. That was a waste!

Wish me luck, gotta get my nose back to the grindstone….with tomorrow being exactly 5 months before my wedding date, I can’t afford to slack off any longer. I know that 10-15lbs isn’t a huge amount of weight loss to accomplish, but when it’s all you have to lose it seems like it’s harder! to me anyway.

Thanks for listening!

so I fell off the wagon, again. ouch. it hurt, and was dirty, but i’m back up in the saddle again. I HAVE to be…i’m getting married in a little over 5 months. I don’t want to be feeling the way I do right now on my wedding day. Curse the holidays and all the tasty foods they present to me! I am totally disgusted with myself - I would eat stuff and not even be hungry!!! We’ve decided that next year, we are only having Christmas Eve at our house again, and will have breakfast with his family Christmas Day. Other than that we are staying home. We were exhausted and totally over ate because we had to go somewhere every day. Next year will be much easier to not over do it if we are eating at home - more control for me. Anyone else have this issue around the holidays? Where you eat just because it’s what you’re expected to do? yikes.

So i’m starting my exercise regimen up again today and kicking it into high gear. Monday, Wednesday, & Saturday to start, and then next week i’ll work in some shorter spurts on Tuesday and Thursday. Will give myself Friday and Sunday as my rest days, unless I miss a regular day because something comes up, then those will be make up days. I’m also writing down what videos i need to do on the calendar - I feel it will make me more accountable if it’s written down, staring me in the face taunting me if I don’t do it.

The good news on top of getting motivated again is that my Fiance is feeling the holiday eating bloat, so I know he won’t be complaining too much about my healthier cooking. His jeans are getting rather snug lately and he hates it. Sadly he can drop off weight just by taking in a few deep breaths - 0k, not that easy, but WAY easier than I can.

ok, thanks for listening!

so my bff and i ran this past Saturday - 4 miles!!! well, we didn’t run the WHOLE time, basically we’d run half the track and walk the other half since we are both novice runners and I didn’t want to kill her or myself by doing too much all at once. After we did our running we were going to just do one lap around to cool down, but did a whole lot more because the conversation was flowing and we were just enjoying the fresh air. Hence why we made it to 4 miles.

I am SO glad to have a companion to run with when they can. I’m going running tomorrow after work, hopefully with the fiance’ but if not i’ve got my trusty ipod to keep me company. Tomorrow also starts my weight watchers points again. I only do it m-f because I actually don’t eat as much on the weekends and it’s too hard trying to figure out what points things are if we go out. I just make sure to not eat anything too ridiculous.

So the new leaf is turning….I haven’t turned it totally over though because I haven’t yet done the diet and exercise. This week will be a good gauge. My goal is to run at the track at LEAST 2 times, hopefully 3+ but I figure start small and reach for big. I’ve got two months to reach my mini goal of looking good in my halloween costume. After that my main goal is to be a beautiful bride!

So my BFF Missy is going to join me on my running journey. She said she’d like to go to our high school track and run (that way she can’t be seen too closely by the drivers, lol)

We are starting this Saturday @ 7:30 am. I’m glad to have her on board as a support system for our weight loss journey. She is my maid of honor, and a weight loss inspiration. She has 3 kids, all of which she had fairly close together, and never lost any of the weight she gained while pregnant. Well, she saw herself and got motivated to lose weight and lost 50+ lbs all by herself watching her eating and exercising. She has since gained some of the weight back and is using my wedding as her jumpstart motivation to get back on track. Go her!

So we’ll run Saturday, and hopefully a couple more times together during the week. Especially while the weather is nice enough to enjoy the outdoors.

AND i’m starting back up on my weight watchers points plan next week. Doing it this week was out of the question since the monthly visitor Flo is in town and she’s making me crave salty sweet goodness that is bad for me. Evil Flo. So monday is D Day.

Thanks for reading, and good luck to you all on your journey to a healthier you!

ok, so I totally hate running as you know if you’ve read my past blogs. Well, this morning, I got up @ 6:30 am on a Saturday and went for a run/walk. Now, i’ve never been a fan of running and haven’t really ran since high school. I could only go for short bursts at first, and set little goals for myself. like make it to that telephone pole. run from here to that line on the road, run from here to that house. it worked. on the way back i was able to run for longer stretches. only got a stitch in my side once! jammed out to butt kickin tune on my ipod, had the cell just in case, and some water for when my throat was dry and scratchy. 2 miles! woo hoo! i’m totally psyched that I did it.

Now my goal is to do it 2-3 times a week and continue doing the power walk/running since i’m not in shape enough to run the whole 2 miles all at once. after 3 weeks of 3 times a week, i’m going to go up to 3 weeks of 4 times a week. and hopefully move up to m-f, and eventually be running the whole 2 miles in under 20 minutes. a big goal for a non runner, but one i think is attainable!

go me!

This morning while getting ready for work I decided not to depress myself with the news and watched MTV. They had on their series ‘True Life:….I’ll never be thin’

Today’s episode was about 2 individuals that struggled with their weight. I caught bits and pieces of it and didn’t really see a lot about the girl. The guy had moved himself away from his family and all the temptations to get busy on his weight loss. He lost a total of 140lbs in one year. That’s a lot of weight for one year. He was basically starving himself, living off of only 200 calories some days. You could tell he was losing the wrong way because he had no muscle mass, his skin was loose from too fast of a weight loss. He didn’t look healthy. And when he got to his magic number, he binged and ate more calories in one sitting than he sometimes had all week.

Watching this mans struggle made me sad for him, and happy that I do not have that type of relationship with food. I do have struggles with my eating, fighting the urge to eat bad, fighting the urge to eat sweets and salts around that time of the month, not overeating at picnics or social gatherings because where there are people, there is always good food that is bad for the waistline!

But watching this mans struggle also gave me a better understanding as to what those of you who are bingers go through. The bliss you feel while binging, the heart sinking remorse you feel afterwards. To those of you that battle the binge and win out over it, you are amazing! And when you give in to the binge, dust yourself off and put on your big girl/boy panties and start anew.

Tomorrow I am doing just that after giving in and falling off the wagon last night. I craved Arbys, so after fighting it for weeks, I gave in. I had only one regular roast beef sandwich, the 3 stick cheese sticks, and had 2 ears of homegrown corn with no fat butter spray. I fell off, but it wasn’t too bad. Tomorrow I embark on another chapter of my weight loss journey - running! I’m a little frightened because as I’ve said before, I hate running and basically wouldn’t do it even if my bum was on fire and I needed to get to water! So I’m going to get up around 7am, drink a big glass of water, stretch and lace up my running shoes and get out there. 2 miles. I’ll rock my ipod with some get your heart rate up music, have my bottle of water for when I need it, and cell phone just in case. I will write tomorrow and let everyone know how it goes. And I will sleep very well Saturday night because I will have run for the first time since I was a wee girl!

So I woke up this morning in a motivated mood. This Saturday I am going to start my jogging regimen. I’d love to start tomorrow morning, but I’m worried an hour won’t be enough time to complete the 2 mile circuit so I can get back home and get back to work. I am not a fan of running…..it’s a loathsome activity for me. But i’m going to try the jogging because I don’t feel my speed walking will be high impact enough to burn calories and build up muscle. I’m so out of shape right now that 2 mile jog might take me 2 hours!!! I hope not, but we’ll see. No time like the present to do something SO out of character for me…my fiance even said he’ll believe it when he sees it because he knows how much I hate running. I feel better if I say jogging! lol

So i’m hoping my motivated streak lasts to this Saturday because I think once I get that first time over with, each time after will be easier. I will be getting up @ 5am during the week to do the jog in the morning, about 3 times a week to start, then I hope to be able to do it Monday-Friday. I was talking to my friend last night and she told me I was crazy to be running on my road, that it was a dangerous road, and that I was better than her for getting my butt outta bed @ 5am to exercise. I laughed and told her sometimes you have to do something different to get yourself in the zone. It’s a life change, not just for weight loss. I want to look great in my wedding dress, I want to feel great in my clothes, I want to BE the healthiest I can be. Sure i’m still going to have the occassional ice cream sundae, bowl of pasta, and piece of apple pie. But I won’t feel so guilty about it because i’m pushing myself on a healthier life path. Change is hard, but worth it if it gives you a better tomorrow!

ok, i’ve done one weigh in since joining this community. It was for the same weight I currently am. No weight loss, but i’m thankful no weight gain!

Over this weekend, some friends of ours said they had joined the YMCA - it’s pretty cheap for a couple - $54 the 1st 3 months, then $45 after that - and they have all the trappings a regular gym has without paying the markup for the pomp and fuss. (I used to pay $50 at my local gym, and basically only used the elliptical machine!) So i’m kind of interested in joining. Now I just need to talk the fiance’ into it, he’s not thrilled about the location, but wants to def bulk up his muscle. (weddings do that to a person, make you want to look fabulous!) With my wedding looming on the horizon in 10 months, I’d like to get busy on this lifestyle change. While my wedding was the motivation to get my butt in gear, I want this to be a change for life, not just the next 10 months and then I fall back into old habits and patterns. I’m also going to TRY to get up when the boy does, @ 5am, and go jogging outside my house. We live on a highway, and traffic isn’t bad that early, so I figure that’s the safest bet for me. I don’t run, hate hate hate it, but jogging I could do. I think. I HOPE! We figured it’ll be about 2 miles round trip from start back to home.

Anyone with any tips of starting out an exercise regime after basically nothing, please share, i’m all ears! Also any idea how many times a week I should be doing this run? I’d like to only do it during the work week, weekends are pretty hectic. And is AM better than PM? It’s def cooler during the wee hours of the morn. Thanks for listening, and in advance for your advice!

When most guys gain weight, they gain it in their belly. Girls, we gain it all around the middle…butt, thighs, stomach, sometimes we get jiggly arms. Chubby faces. Then when we get motivated to lose weight, we must count every calorie, exercise constantly.

Most Guys, they just have to move a little bit more and maybe cut out a couple beers and the weight falls off. Jealous? More like envious of the ease with which they lose the weight.

oh and how they inadvertantly sabotage our weight loss efforts. like the eating late at night, or bringing home fatty, bad for you treats. Always at our weakest moments when we have so much trouble resisting temptation. Damn them and their ability to shed pounds with ease! Damn them for there comfort with being a little pudgy and knowing we love them anyways. lol
